Employers will seek, above all, analysts who can ask the right questions of the data. Whilst technical skills remain important, the job market will reward the candidate who can demonstrate ‘real world’ data skills. In addressing this increasingly critical industry need by meeting the Data Science skills gap, we must to do more than simply churn out students with high-level technical programming and statistical skills.
So how can Scotland produce these ‘real world’ data scientists who will spearhead the data-driven economic boost we need? Part of the answer is through apprenticeships.
The Data Lab, Skills Development Scotland and The Tech Partnership would like to invite you to find out more about the new Data Apprenticeship opportunities in Scotland on Thursday 17 November. This event will inform you about the Data Analytics Modern Apprenticeship launched this summer and we will discuss how education providers and organisations can take advantage of this opportunity.
- Companies - By attending this event you will learn more about how you can take on data apprenticeships and how they can benefit your organisation.
- Universities – We will provide an introduction to Graduate Level Apprenticeships and an opportunity for attendees to find out how they can get involved in future developments.
- Colleges - By attending this event you will learn how you can include Data Analyst modern apprenticeships as part of your current college offer. You will also get to meet local companies that are interested in taking on new data analyst apprentices.
For more information on how data apprenticeships can help develop data talent for Scotland, read this article on The Daily Record by Josh Ryan-Saha, Skills Manager at The Data Lab.
